Our goal at Fox Castle is to exceed your expectations, nothing less.

After our three or four inches of snow here in town Tuesday (and I know it was that much, because I shoveled it) I came in and found a most interesting website - http://www.7springs.com/mountain-cams/, which has web cams that show how much snow is on the slopes at Seven Springs Ski Resort. And so does Hidden Valley, here. http://www.hiddenvalleyresort.com/resort-cams/
For those of you who aren't terribly familiar with what is going on here in the Laurel Highlands in the wintertime, skiing is a major attraction. Seven Springs, Hidden Valley and Nemacolin are the big three areas to ski, but there is a little known area, Laurel Mountain State Park, that is supposed to be reopened in the near future.
This article on the history of the resort appeared in the Trib November 29.
This interesting letter to the editor in the Trib appeared December 20. http://triblive.com/opinion/letters/7383416-74/state-laurel-mountain#axzz3OFIKNrCl
And of course, there are other snow sports like snowboarding, snow tubing, snow biking and snow shoe trekking that are fairly small but growing in popularity. And for those who don't want or don't have equipment other than snow boots, there is always a winter hike on the GAP Trail to clear your head and enjoy some beautiful winter scenery.
With the exception of Laurel Mountain these resorts do offer lodging but you don't have to stay there to ski there. If you are fine with an anonymous, cookie-cutter room and amenities and that works for you, all good. But if you like something a bit more personal, or perhaps you enjoy historic architecture and a three course cooked breakfast in the morning appeals to you, consider staying here. We cater to dietary preferences and allergies as well.
How far? Seven Springs is 20 miles, Hidden Valley 25 and Nemacolin is 30 miles from Fox Castle Bed and Breakfast. A 40 minute drive at most.
Just be sure you dress appropriately for conditions because it says it is 4 degrees at Seven Springs. Minus 4 at Hidden Valley. But my guess is conditions are great right now because it looks good - and although we have had no new snow here, the cool conditions have made it necessary for me to shovel and sweep a quarter inch of wind blown powder off our concrete both yesterday and today.
Happy ski trip planning, and give us a call or book online.
